“This car is a testament to the enduring allure of Abarth’s creations.”
At Beverly Hills Car Club, we pride ourselves on unearthing classic car treasures, and our latest discovery is just that. We’re excited to introduce this remarkable piece of Italian racing history: a 1959 Fiat Abarth Monza Record, rescued from years of seclusion in a rural community.
This extraordinary “barn find” represents a historic moment in the collaboration between Fiat and the legendary Carlo Abarth. The Abarth Monza Record models were born from Abarth’s relentless pursuit of speed and his knack for transforming albeit ‘modest’ Fiat engines into formidable racing machines.
The Monza Record series earned its name through a series of impressive speed records set at the Monza circuit in 1956. These diminutive yet mighty cars shattered expectations, setting benchmarks for endurance and speed in their car class.
What makes this model so special is its rarity. Abarth’s production numbers were always limited, but the Monza Record models were especially scarce.
Based on the Fiat 600 chassis, these cars featured a modified bodywork to improve aerodynamics. The heart of the Monza Record was its engine – a tiny but strong powerplant that Abarth tuned to produce astonishing output for its size. This car is a testament to the enduring allure of Abarth’s creations.
Beverly Hills Car Club is grateful to bring back to market this 1959 Fiat Abarth Record. (Oct. 3, 2024)
