The 1969 BMW 2800 CS

The 1969 BMW 2800 CS model was the second model year produced by Bavarian Motor Works. This luxury vehicle had many interesting changes from its predecessor models previously manufactured. Unlike previous sedans, these vehicles had a longer wheelbase in order to accommodate the new straight-six M30 engine.

This engine really packed a punch into these luxury vehicles because it could generate up to 170 horsepower and ran at 6000 revolutions per minute. This made the vehicle vastly faster than before and made the previous 2000 series look like a lesser luxury vehicle. The front end of the vehicle was modified to be smaller and look better for its performance capabilities. The lighter weight frame made the vehicle superior for speed and handling and gave the driver the luxury of both great speed and most importantly control. The only drawback to these vehicles were that they were saddled with rear drum brakes, but in 1969, automatic transmission was added to the vehicle.
