Stanley H. Wacky Arnolt was an industrialist from Chicago who started importing foreign cars in the U.S. in the 1950s. The cars were hybrids, sold as American models but fitted with British mechanicals and Italian bodywork. Assembly, sales and distribution was generally done and operated in the U.S. After meeting with Bertone at the Turin Auto Show in 1952, Arnolt started cooperating with the Italian coachbuilder. The first model made was the Arnolt-MG, a four-seat model bodied by Bertone. 103 units of this classic were built between 1953 and 1954, 36 of which were convertibles. Three Arnolt Aston were built following the MG, also bodied by Bertone but Aston Martin stopped the production. Four additional Bertone Astons were commissioned at Arnolt’s request, 3 of which were roadsters and one coupe. Arnolt also worked with Bertone on a Bentley body with the chassis of a 1953 R Type Continental, and then on Bristol 404 series chassis.
