1959 Ferrari 250 Market Values
The 1959 Ferrari 250 GT emerged from a need to improve cornering agility, following a loss of competitiveness in motor racing with the Tour de France model. The wheelbase was therefore shortened in an attempt to improve the racing performance, and the Pininfarina design became more muscular. The SOHC V12 engine was heavily revised and the new unit generated 280 hp at 7,000 rpm, which was the most powerful application to date.
Buyer’s Guide
Interestingly, most of the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT, of which 165 examples were made, received steel bodywork. However, 75 units were built on an aluminum body produced by Scaglietti in order to further enhance the track performance. The first Ferrari to employ disc brakes, the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT was also very well balanced and improved track performances significantly.
